Redmond, Ore. – A 24-year-old Redmond man has been arrested on assault and other charges, accused of firing a gunshot at his home, sending the bullet through a wall and fence and into a neighbor’s home, where it bounced off the head of a woman watching TV, according to officers.
On Monday evening, February 20th, at approximately 9:45 pm, Deschutes County 911 Dispatch received a call from the 2400 block of SW Wickiup Court, where it was reported a bullet had come into a house, and “bounced” off the head of one of the residents inside, while seated watching television.
Officers confirmed there was no injuries and located a bullet on the floor, where it came to rest after “bouncing” off the head of the resident. An initial investigation at this house confirmed the bullet entered the house from the outside, going through a fence, the exterior wall of the house, and a picture frame, before hitting the resident in the head.
Officers located an apparent bullet hole on the exterior of a house at 2486 SW Wickiup Ave, directly to the south of the victim residence.
Officers contacted the adult resident, detaining him. During the investigation, a 9mm firearm was found inside a bedroom, along with a spent 9mm casing.
Redmond Police arrested Ryan Pine, a Redmond resident, for several crimes (listed below). The exact circumstance regarding how or why the firearm was discharged will not be released. However, Redmond Police believes the discharge of the firearm was not intended to harm any other person.
Drug and alcohol impairment appear to be contributing factors in this incident.
