Amazon(PIACENZA, Italy) — Thousands of Amazon employees went on strike in Italy and Germany during Black Friday to demand higher wages.

More than 500 employees staged their strike at the Amazon warehouse in Piacenza, near Milan.

Meanwhile, a union spokesperson said some 2,500 workers walked off the job at Amazon Facilities in Germany.

Since 2013, the union has been pushing for higher pay for some 12,000 workers in Germany, saying Amazon employees receive lower wages than those in retail and mail-order jobs.

The strike is expected to end on Saturday.
