Bicyclists pack Deschutes County courtroom for hearing on death of peer

Bicyclists packed a Deschutes County courtroom for a hearing on the death of one of their peers.

They heard prosecutors described the actions of the woman they say hit and killed Bend dentist Marika Stone.

Shantel Witt is accused of being intoxicated when she slammed into Stone and then cussed out bikers riding with the victim for being on the road.

Witt is facing manslaughter charges and prosecutors wanted her bail to be increased because of her lack of remorse.

The judge kept bail set at a little more than a quarter-of-a-million dollars.
