A bill to ban a bridge over the Deschutes River in Bend continues to move through the state legislature.
The Bulletin reports It passed out of one key committee in the house and now heads to another on its way to a floor vote.
Supporters include some environmentalists and area home owners, who say the proposed pedestrian bridge would be bad for the environment.
The City of Bend and Bend Park and Recreation District are among the groups and individuals opposed to the legislation, saying it should be a local decision and the bridge is needed for recreational purposes.
