A Springfield ex-con is the man who died from a Deschutes County sheriff’s deputy’s bullet.
Jesse Powell has a long criminal history.
He was 44-years-old.
Deputy Randy Zilk shot him Wednesday after getting a call that a man had been arguing with a woman and shots were fire at a campsite north of Century Drive.
Investigators aren’t saying what prompted the 13-year veteran of the sheriff’s office to shoot Powell.
