BEND, Ore. — Senator Jeff Merkley was at OSU-Cascades Wednesday morning to kick off his “Fighting for College Affordability Tour.”
The senator plans to meet with college students on five Oregon campuses in two days to share his fight to make college more affordable.
Merkley says he was the first in his family to go to college, and says he knows how critical access to higher education is to both the middle class and our economy.
Together with Senator Elizabeth Warren, he introduced the Bank on Students Emergency Loan Refinancing Act which would allow student loan borrowers to refinance at today’s lower rates.
