Redmond, Ore. – The Redmond Police Department says that this morning shortly after 7, a 29 year old man was attempting to break the windows of patrol cars in the rear parking lot of the Redmond Police Department.
Officers were able to locate the male hiding in the bushes alongside of the Redmond Police Department. When contacted, the male brandished a box knife and challenged the Officers and began to cut his wrists. After commands to drop the knife were given and ignored he was tased and was taken into custody without further incident.
Once in custody, it was learned the suspect also attempted to break office windows at the department and caused minor damage to some exterior fixtures.
The male was treated at the scene by the Redmond Fire Department and later transported to the Redmond St. Charles Medical Center for additional medical and mental health issues. He was later lodged at the Deschutes County jail on criminal mischief, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct charges.
The suspects name is being withheld at this time, due to HIPAA regulations.
