Madras HS Coach Arrested For Sex Abuse

BowermanMadras High School head track and field coach Melissa Bowerman was arrested Monday by Oregon State Police and charged with carrying on an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year old male student and member of the track team.

State troopers and detectives arrested Bowerman, age 43, at her Fossil home.

Bowerman was taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Madras where she faces charges of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, Luring a Minor, Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the Second Degree, and Contributing to the Sexual Delinquency of a Minor.

Bowerman had also been featured in several news stories for returning the original shoe-pattern waffle iron to Nike. She is the daughter-in-law of Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman.

OSP investigators are concerned there may have been other victims in this case. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call OSP Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888.
