Father and Son Arrested After Hit & Run Crash
SUNRIVER, OR -- A father and son from Bend were arrested after a hit and run crash near Sunriver that injured a 17-year-old Sunriver girl Monday night.
James Allen Bilbro III, 56, was later arrested for a DUII and failure to perform the duties of a driver involved in an accident. His son, James Allen Bilbro IV, 23, was cited for failing to perform duties as a witness and a probation violation.
The victim, whose name was not released, was treated on scene by Sunriver medics and then sent to the hospital in a private vehicle with undisclosed injuries.
According to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, deputies and Oregon State police Troopers were dispatched to the area of South Century Drive and Spring River Road, a reported Hit & Run vehicle crash with injuries.
While en route to the scene, Deputies and Troopers looked for the suspect vehicle without success. Upon arrival, the victim, reporting party and witnesses were contacted and additional suspect information obtained.
The investigation led to one Deputy and one Trooper contacting Jim (father) and James (son) Bilbro at their residence in Oregon Water Wonderland.
Upon conclusion of the investigation, both Jim and Jimmy were arrested and transported to the Deschutes County Adult Jail.
This joint effort investigation included two Sheriff's Deputies, two Oregon State Police Troopers and two Sunriver Police Officers.
Neither South Century Drive or Spring River Road were blocked or traffic obstructed as the suspect vehicle had departed the scene and victim's vehicle came to rest approximately 40 feet off the roadway.
