Buckhorn Fires Continues To Grow; Containment Expected Sunday
PRINEVILLE, OR -- Firefighters said the Buckhorn Fires near Clarno have burned roughly 4,000 acres. Crews said full containment of both blazes is expected August 1st. Helicopters continue to drop water from the John Day River in areas too steep for foot crews. Firefighters are expected to use much of Friday patrolling for hot spots, doing mop-up work, and improve existing fire lines.
The Buckhorn Fire started Tuesday morning, sparked by lightning.
