23 Cited In Redmond Traffic Enforcement Emphasis
REDMOND, OR -- 23 motorists were cited and 38 warnings were issued during a traffic enforcement emphasis in Redmond Thursday.
The Multi-Agency Traffic Team (MATT) consisted of seven officers from the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Redmond Police and Bend Police Departments.
Officers worked on Highland Boulevard from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and wrote tickets ranging from speed violations, red light violations, failure to use a seat belt, and cell phone use.
During the enforcement detail, one person was arrested for giving false information to a police officer and for a parole violation warrant. One vehicle was impounded.
"The purpose of the enforcement detail is to increase the traffic safety awareness on Highland Boulevard by increasing police presence," according to a news release. "The hope of MATT details is to gain public awareness and compliance with traffic laws in hope of reducing the number of crashes, injuries nad fatalities in Central Oregon."
The next MATT emphasis is scheduled to be held sometime in August.
