John Day Fire Nearly Contained
Both Buckhorn fires burning north of Clarno along the John Day River held within all perimeter control lines Friday.
According to the latest report Saturday from Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center, the gusty winds today will be a good test of those lines.
Resources have been downsized to one hand crew and one engine to patrol for smokes. They will also rehabilitate the staging areas, helispots and dozer lines that were created during the suppression efforts.
Several crews and engines will be held for initial attack response due to the lightning received last night. A flight is scheduled to look for new smokes and starts. If no reports are received, those resources will be released at mid-day to be available for other assignments.
