Governor: Health Insurance For All Oregon Kids
SALEM, OR -- Governor Ted Kulongoski has announced that health insurance is now available for all Oregon children. The governor said the state's Healthy Kids plan has been completely phased in after the Legislature approved it last year.
"This is a proud day in Oregon's history," said Kulongoski. "As of this week, every child in Oregon now has access to health insurance under the Healthy Kids plan. This is the day I have been working toward since taking office as Governor. Now, after years of work - and multiple efforts - we can proudly stand and say, that together, we have accomplished this very important goal for Oregon's children."
Kulongoski urged parents to find out more about the plan and enroll their children. While the plan offers three options based on family income, the governor said the goal is to make sure every child is insured, regardless of income.
