Madras Man Injured In Accident Near Rhododendron

BEND, OR -- A Madras man was seriously injured after his car left Highway 26 outside of Rhododendron Friday morning.

Oregon State Police say Craig Albert Heying, 24, left the highway around 9 a.m. and struck a tree head on. Responding crews found Heying lying on the ground outside of his car, seriously injured. He was flown to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. Investigators said he was using his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

OSP said Heying's pit bulldog, Leo, was killed in the Friday accident.
