(NEW YORK) — The response to ABC’s new singing competition, Rising Star, on Sunday night was a mixed bag.
The show — which features Josh Groban as host and Kesha, Ludacris and Brad Paisley as experts — was seen by a total of 5.1 million viewers. That’s a few million short of the audience pulled in by America’s Got Talent on NBC during the same two-hour time period.
However, Rising Star was the most-tweeted-about show on Sunday night. Its app, which allows viewers to vote on contestants, was downloaded by more than one million people.
The most-watched program on Sunday was aired by ABC’s sister cable network, ESPN. Coverage of the United States’ 2-2 draw with Portugal in the World Cup averaged 24.7 million viewers on ESPN and Univision.
