PORTLAND, OR — Republican candidate for US Senate Monica Wehby has a new commercial firing back against accusations made by incumbent Jeff Merkley. Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley is accusing his opponent of following the lead of national Republicans; of not having her own agenda.
But, in Monica Wehby’s first campaign ad since winning the May primary, she says otherwise:
“I’m going to the U.S. Senate to try to change things, to make things better, to stop this gridlock and get back to the work of the people, what the senators are supposed to be doing," Wehby said in her new ad.
Despite that new ad, Merkley’s campaign contends she shares the same reckless agenda as Washington DC Republicans. Merkley Communications Director Jamal Raad shared the following statement:
"Monica Wehby refuses to discuss her tax plan copied straight from Mitt Romney's 2012 policy agenda, won't release her Personal Financial Disclosure and in a substance-free 60 second web video she can't name a single policy issue that she'd work on in the Senate. That's because Wehby shares the same reckless agenda as Washington D.C. Republicans and we’ve rejected it time and again. It isn't personal. Oregonians need to know that while Jeff fights for the middle class, Monica Wehby sides with Senate Republicans against Oregon's priorities."
