(LOS ANGELES) — Despite a shoulder issue that has kept him out of the lineup for a few games, Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez isn’t expected to be missed for an extended period of time.
A recent MRI showed no structural damage after he was examined by Dodgers’ team doctor Neal ElAttrache. Ramirez will be able to get back on the field once the pain goes away.
Ramirez has been bothered by an irritated A.C. joint for more than two weeks. The Dodgers are hopeful that a little time off will get him healthy for the stretch run of the season.
The Dodgers will miss Ramirez’ bat in the heart of their potent lineup. The team is ninth in Major League Baseball in runs scored, and are also battling it out in the NL West. They are currently two games behind the San Francisco Giants for the division lead.
In 73 games this season, Ramirez is hitting .269 with 11 home runs and 46 RBIs.
