(NEW YORK) — A Mexican law enforcement helicopter fired shots into the Arizona desert on Thursday, according to U.S. officials.
In a statement Friday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the helicopter was taking part in an operation near the border when it crossed about 100 yards north into Arizona — in a rural area southwest of Tucson.
“Two shots were fired from the helicopter but no injuries or damage to U.S. property were reported,” CBP said.
The agency said the incident is now under investigation.
