(NEW YORK) — The View will look a lot different next season. Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy have both announced they are leaving the ABC daytime program.
Deadline.com reports Shepherd and the network were “too far apart” on terms of a new contract. Her current deal will soon expire.
In a statement from her rep obtained by Deadline.com, Shepherd says, “It’s been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to [executive producers] Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey.”
Shepherd joined The View in 2007 after previously spending time on the show as a guest co-host.
McCarthy seems to be following Shepherd out the door. She tweeted, “If Sherri goes… I go too. #sisters.” She added, “My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year.”
Furthermore, McCarthy tweeted a photo of herself with Shepherd and Geddie, and wrote, “These are my Avengers and we will be back!”
ABC says in a statement, “The View will be moving in an exciting new direction next season and ABC has made decisions to evolve the show creatively.”
It appears co-host Whoopi Goldberg is sticking around.
Walters retired as co-host of The View last month. She’s a guest on Friday’s edition of the show. She taped the appearance on Wednesday.
