Bend PD To Conduct Enhanced Patrols

BEND, OR — As the Fourth of July holiday draws near and enhanced patrols take to the streets and highways to look for impaired drivers, the Bend Police remind its citizens that even one drink could be one too many.

"We’re definitely going to be focusing over this holiday weekend on impaired driving, and/or buzzed driving," says Lt. Nick Parker of Bend PD, "If you have any impairment whatsoever or feel any of the effects of the alcohol, we encourage people not to drive at those times."

Although many who drink would differentiate the words buzzed and drunk, Lieutenant Parker says it’s all a matter of impairment. If you feel a buzz, you’re feeling the impairment.

“You could have a blood alcohol content level of below point-zero-eight and still be impaired and found to not be able to drive a motor vehicle safely,” Parker says.

The Fourth of July takes place on a Friday this year, with enhanced patrols continuing through the weekend.
