Raptors Re-Sign Patrick Patterson to Three-Year Deal

Jed Jacobson/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — The Raptors may be trying to trim salary, but they still want to keep forward Patrick Paterson in the picture as the two sides have come to an agreement on a three-year contract worth $18 million.

Patterson began last season as a member of the Sacramento Kings before being shipped to Toronto.

The 25-year-old Patterson has develped into a solid stretch-forward. While Patterson has only started 61 games during his six-year career, he’s a more than serviceable bench player.

In 48 games for the Raptors last season, Patterson averaged 9.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in 23.3 minutes per game.

The Raptors have been busy this offseason so far early on. They’ve resigned point guard Kyle Lowry to a four-year deal, traded forward Steve Novak, acquired veteran guard Lou Williams, and also drafted small forward Bruno Cabocio 20th overall in the draft.

The team will now look to retain point guard Greivis Vasquez, who was also part of the trade that brought Patterson to Toronto in exchange for veteran forward Rudy Gay.
