Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Free agent center Spencer Hawes has agreed to a $23 million deal for four seasons. The deal will not be official until the end of the NBA’s moratorium on deals is lifted on July 10.
Hawes averaged 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3 assists per game last year, splitting time between Philadelphia and Charlotte. The 26-year-old also hit better than forty-one percent from the three-point line nearly 45 percent.
The Clippers were reportedly working on a trade proposal for during the season, proving how much the team was looking for someone with his skill set. A 7’1″ center, Hawes is entering his eighth season in the NBA. Los Angeles is looking for another big man to bolster the roster after the firing of head coach Doc Rivers.
