Fire Destroys South Deschutes County Home

SUNRIVER, OR — A fire destroyed a home south of Sunriver Saturday.  La Pine firefighters were called to Covina Rd., where flames were pouring from a manufactured home.  Crews worked for 3 ½ hours to keep the flames contained to the home, adjacent garage and nearby brush and grass.  Thanks to working smoke detectors, the homeowners were able to escape Saturday’s fire without injury.

The Red Cross is helping the displaced family.  No word what sparked Saturday’s fire.

La Pine Fire said Saturday’s house fire was one of 29 incidents their crews responded to over the holiday weekend.
