Frank Micelotta/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Fans are finally being treated to the first look at Andre 3000 starring as Jimi Hendrix in the upcoming biopic, Jimi: All Is by My Side.
In the official trailer, the Outkast rapper portrays the legendary musician’s famous life during the 1960s before his fame.
“I want my music to go inside the soul of a person. For me, it’s colors. I want people to feel the music the same way I see it,” he says in the teaser.
The film is written and directed by Oscar-winner John Ridley, who helmed 12 Years a Slave. The movie also stars Hayley Atwell and Imogen Poots and is slated to hit theaters on Sept. 26.
