Deschutes county sheriff BadgeLA PINE, OR — A seven-year-old boy was found after a frantic search near La Pine Monday evening.  Deschutes County crews were called to McKay Crossing Campground around 5 p.m., after the boy’s family reported the child missing.  Search and Rescue volunteers, Oregon State Police and a Bend Police K-9 unit were called to the area.  After more than an hour, the boy was found in good shape along a Forest Service road.

Investigators said the child got separated from his family Monday afternoon, and started to search for his brother.  The boy walked about a mile through brush and trees towards the sounds of vehicle traffic on the road.
