Man Killed In Fiery Highway 58 Crash

070914 Highway 58 FatalLA PINE, OR — One man was killed and two people were injured after a pickup truck and commercial truck collided on Highway 58 outside of Pleasant Hill late Tuesday afternoon.  Oregon State Police troopers said around 5 p.m., an eastbound pickup crossed the centerline, striking an oncoming big rig.  The commercial truck burst into flame, with the fire spreading to nearby brush.

By the time emergency responders arrived, the driver in the pickup truck, Timothy David Fine, 55, Oakridge, was dead.  The two people inside of the commercial truck were taken to the local hospital with minor injuries.

Highway 58 was closed for nearly three hours Tuesday evening, and reduced to one lane for several more hours as crews responded.
