Bicyclist Struck, Injured Near Molalla

071014 211 Bike AccidentMOLALLA, OR — The investigation into Thursday’s serious injury vehicle vs. bicycle crash along Highway 211 just east of Molalla.  Oregon State Police troopers say a 44-year-old rider was traveling westbound on Highway 211when he suddenly turned into the path of a pickup truck.  The driver of the pickup was unable to avoid a collision.

The unidentified bicyclist was flown to Oregon Health & Science University in Portland with critical injuries.  The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.

OSP’s initial investigation indicates alcohol is a possible contributing factor for the injured bicyclist.  Highway 211 was closed for about 45 minutes Thursday as crews responded.
