North Korea Launches Missiles into Ocean from Near Border with South Korea

Photodisc/Thinkstock(SEOUL, South Korea) — North Korea fired two more long-range ballistic missiles into the ocean from Kaesong on Sunday.

This is the 14th time that North Korea has test-fired rockets this year. The launch took place from just about 12 miles north of the border between North Korea and South Korea, closer than is normal.

North Korea has used similar launches in the past as a way to protest international happenings. The U.S.S. George Washington, a massive super carrier, is in South Korea as part of joint military exercises planned for later in July. North Korea has protested those exercises, threatening to increase its nuclear forces as a means of self-defense.
