LA PINE, OR — Crews now have the Moccasin Hill Fire burning in Klamath County 35% contained. The fire, first reported Sunday north of Sprague River, has burned 2,535 acres of timberland, six homes and other structures. Fire officials say crews made excellent progress on the Moccasin Hill Fire Tuesday, by significantly strengthening containment lines and attacking hotsopts within the perimeter. Firefighters have already initiated mop-up activities on several portions of the fire line.
The Level One evacuation status remains in effect for subdivisions near the fire. The Red Cross Evacuation Center remains open at the Sprague Community Center.
The cause of the Moccasin Hill Fire is under investigation.
