MADRAS, OR — Crews said they have the massive Shaniko Butte Fire burning north of Warm Springs 50% contained. The Fire, first reported Sunday July 13th, has burned 42,500 acres of grass, logs and smaller timber.
Overnight Sunday, firefighters provided structure protection patrol and continued to mop-up and secure containment lines. Those efforts are expected to continue into Monday, along with the establishment of new containment lines.
