Logging Unit Fires 30% Contained

072414.Logging.FireWARM SPRINGS, OR — Crews fighting the Logging Unit Fires on the western edge of the Warm Spring Reservation report 30% containment.  The fire, which continues to burn in large stand timber, has blackened 10,350 acres.  Nearly 1,200 firefighters remain on the front lines of the five fires.

In addition, the Level One Evacuation Notice issued for the Sid Walter Flats area was lifted Wednesday.

Fire dispatch says between 1,500-1,700 lightning strikes were recently reported from the Cascade Crest east across the Warm Springs Reservation.  As weather warms in the coming days, an increase in initial attack activity is expected.
