Bicyclist Injured After Hitting Vehicle

Deschutes SheriffBEND, OR — A bicyclist was injured Friday afternoon, after he reportedly struck a stopped vehicle.  Around 4:30 p.m., Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Brookswood Blvd. near Lone Cow Dr. to a bicycle v. vehicle accident.  Investigators said the driver of the pickup truck was traveling northbound on Brookswood Blvd. when he pulled over to adjust his GPS device.  He pulled past the white fog line, and after two minutes, was struck from behind by a man riding his bike.  Jake McDonald, 20, Bend, was taken to St. Charles Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

DCSO said their investigation is ongoing.  No citations have been issued.  McDonald was reportedly riding his bicycle around 30 mph when the accident occurred.
