PRINEVILLE, OR — As of Saturday morning, firefighters battling the Ochoco Complex have the fire 69% contained. The five fires burning east of Prineville have burned 10,004 acres of primarily timber. Crews on the frontlines say they should have the fire completely contained on Tuesday.
Firefighters continue their patrol and mop up work on the Lava Fire. On Friday, they also began rehabilitation of fire lines around the Antelope Springs and Broadway fires. Officials said they will continue to mop up along containment lines over the weekend, and go deeper into the fire where fuel types warrant. The anticipation is fire movement Saturday will be minimal due to control efforts along the fire lines.
