PRINEVILLE, OR — Crews are nearing containment of the Waterman Complex of fires burning east of Prineville. Fire officials said Saturday morning they have the three fires 95% contained. The Bailey Butte, Toney Butte and Junction Springs fires have burned 12,520 acres of grass, shrubs and timber.
During Friday’s efforts, crews were able to hold the existing lines and perform mop-up work. Over the weekend, firefighters will reportedly work to fishing the containment lines around the Bailey Butte, while maintaining existing lines. The fire is not expected to spread much over the weekend.
