(NEW YORK) — The shark storm is back! Sharknado 2: The Second One premieres Wednesday night on the Syfy channel.
Ian Ziering starred in last year’s smash cult hit and returns for the sequel because as viewers remember, he chainsawed his way out of a shark.
In Sharknado 2: The Second One, the man-eaters invade New York City.
Ziering tells ABC News Radio he doesn’t think expectations are higher this time. “I think people are expecting the same amount of enjoyment,” Ziering says, adding, “This is still low budget filmmaking. It’s still going to be fun to see somebody running through the background that you noticed getting his legs chewed off in the scene before. I mean, that’s part of the fun.”
Ziering describes Sharknado as “campy sci-fi low budget independent filmmaking.”
Sharknado 2: The Second One also stars Tara Reid, Vivica A. Fox, Mark McGrath, Kari Wuhrer, Judah Friedlander, Robert Klein, and former Taxi star Judd Hirsch as a taxi driver. Kelly Osbourne makes an appearance as a flight attendant, and Matt Lauer, Al Roker and Kelly Ripa also have cameos.
Syfy is so confident that Sharknado 2 will do well, it has already ordered a third installment that will premiere next summer.
Sharknado 2: The Second One airs at 9 p.m. Eastern time.
