Lightning Ink Ben Bishop to 2-Year Extension

Len Redkoles/NHLI via Getty Images(TAMPA, Fla.) — Goaltender Ben Bishop signed a two-year contract extension with the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday. According to ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBrun, the deal is worth an average of $5.95 million per season.

The 27-year-old Bishop had a breakout season in 2013-14. He played in 63 games, posting a 37-14-7 record with a .924 save percentage and 2.23 goals-against average, while being nominated as a Vezina Trophy finalist.

The extension keeps the 6-foot-7, 214 pound Bishop in Tampa through the 2016-17 season.
