Timberwolves Admit Kevin Love Trade 'Likely' to Happen

NBA via Minnestoa Timberwolves(NEW YORK) — As each day passes, it looks more and more like Kevin Love’s days with the Minnesota Timberwolves are coming to an end as team owner Glen Taylor admits that a trade is “likely.”

“I’m saying it’s most likely because Kevin has made it pretty clear that that’s what he wants to do,” Taylor told the Pioneer Press.

Rumors have swirled all offseason, and even before, that Love would not sign a contract extension with the team and that he will pursue free agency once his contract expires.

While the team wants to retain Love, they realize that trading him may be the only way to salvage anything from an imminent departure.

Reportedly, Love may be traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a multi-player and possibly multi-team trade that would include number one overall pick Andrew Wiggins.

Wiggins signed his rookie contract last week, and the team must wait 30 days after signing his deal to trade him, making a late August trade a possible time frame for a deal to happen.

This past season, Love averaged 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, both top-5 in the NBA.
