Bright Red Supermoon Glows over Madrid

NASA/Bill Ingalls(MADRID) — A bright red supermoon dazzled stargazers in Spain Monday night, captured glowing between Madrid’s Four Towers in an incredible photo.

The spectacular sight came a day after the world watched a rare supermoon rise.

Supermoons happen a few times a year, when the moon is at its brightest and closest to Earth.

Sunday night’s supermoon was the biggest and brightest of the year.

Changes in Earth’s atmosphere can cause the moon to appear a dramatic red or orange, experts said.
