BEND, OR — Firefighters were called to NE Bend Monday evening after a duplex was struck by lightning. Investigators said the lightning caused a power surge that went into a neighboring four-plex on NE Nikki Ct., sparking a small fire. The surge in power caused material in the crawl space to ignite, causing about $5,000 in damage. The duplex sustained minor roof damage from the strike.
