PRINEVILLE, OR — The South Fork Complex continues to grow southwest of John Day. The two blazes, the Murderers Creek and Buck Fork fires, have burned 64,272 acres of timber, brush and grass. Containment of the South Fork remains at 30%.
Some firefighters were pulled back into safety zones Monday afternoon and evening due to thunderstorm activity and gusty winds. A small amount of rain fell in some areas of the fire, which helped calm flames.
Crews will work to hold containment lines Tuesday.
