Spilled Gravel Reduces O’Neil Highway Traffic Monday Morning

DCSO.STOCK.2REDMOND, OR — A large amount of gravel spilled on to the O’Neil Highway slowed traffic northeast of Redmond Monday morning.  The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office says a loaded dump truck was westbound near NE 17th St. when the driver drifted off the roadway shortly after 8:30 a.m.  The loaded truck went down the shoulder, causing the trailer’s load to dump on the O’Neil Highway.  The driver was able to get the truck back on the roadway and pulled off in a safe location.

The O’Neil Highway was reduced to one lane Monday morning as crews cleaned up the gravel.  The investigation into Monday’s accident is ongoing.
