PRINEVILLE, OR — The Bend Area Habitat for Humanity is looking to address the affordable housing shortage in Crook County. On August 25th, Bend Habitat will hold a Homeowner Information Session in Prineville. The opportunity is open to families or individuals interested in becoming Crook County homeowners. There are several requirements that must be met: a family household income 35%-60% of the area median, a willingness to work and a willingness to partner with Habitat.
Julia Barry told KBNW News the need in Crook County is significant.
“One of the thing that we’ve been seeing significantly are people who are renters, and for whatever reason are having to move very frequently, whether the owners are selling or their rent is going to increase where they can no longer pay.”
Barry said need can also include those in substandard housing, or those paying too much of their income for housing. Here’s the information on the Prineville meeting:
When: Monday, August 25 at 5:30 p.m.
