Health Republic Insurance has two open seats on the company’s Board of Directors. While only members of the non-profit health insurance provider can vote, anyone can be nominated. All Health Republic board nominees must be 21 years of age, Oregon residents, and submitted by October 1st.

Home Depot’s fiscal 2nd Quarter net income surged 14% thanks to a rebound in its spring selling season. The nation’s largest home improvement retailer also raised its annual profit guidance Tuesday. Home Depot has two locations in Central Oregon.

After promising not to withhold government information over “speculative or abstract fears,” the Obama administration has concluded it will not publicly disclose federal records that could shed light on the security of the government’s health care website because doing so could “potentially” allow hackers to break in. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services denied a request by The Associated Press under the Freedom of Information Act for documents about the kinds of security software and computer systems behind the federally funded HealthCare.gov. The AP requested the records late last year amid concerns that Republicans raised about the security of the website, which had technical glitches that prevented millions of people from signing up for insurance under President Barack Obama’s health care law.

A child born in 2013 will cost a middle-income American family an average of $245,340 until he or she reaches the age of 18, with families living in the Northeast taking on a greater burden, according to a report out Monday. And that doesn’t include college, or expenses if a child lives at home after age 17. Those costs that are included, food, housing, childcare and education, rose 1.8% over the previous year.

Oregon Treasury Announces Bond Offering

Oregon State Treasury is excited to announce an upcoming $566.8 million General Obligation (GO) Bond offering through its Buy Oregon Bonds Program. The April 24 sale, which features $1,000 denomination offerings, will provide funding for affordable housing programs and
