Wong Blasts Cardinals Past Giants

Mike McGinnis/Getty Images(ST. LOUIS, MO) — Kolten Wong has tied up the NLCS at a game apiece with a ninth inning walk-off solo home run.

The Cardinals second baseman took a Sergio Romo pitch deep to right field in the bottom of the ninth, giving St. Louis a 5-4 victory over San Francisco.

“I didn’t know if it was going out or not,” Wong said to ESPN after the game. “When it finally went out, all emotion came out.”

Not all news was good for the Cardinals. All-Star catcher Yadier Molina left the game in the sixth inning with what is described as a strained oblique. Manager Mike Matheny said Molina was undergoing further tests but that the injury, “didn’t look real good.”

The series resumes Tuesday night in San Francisco as John Lackey takes the hill for the Cardinals. For San Francisco, Tim Hudson will get the nod.
