Los Angeles Building Fire Closes Parts of Two Freeways

@camconcepcion/Instagram(LOS ANGELES) — An apartment building under construction in downtown Los Angeles erupted into flames Monday, forcing the closure of parts of two major freeways nearby.

About 240 firefighters battled the fire, which began about 4:20 a.m. ET, according to the city’s fire department.

There were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries.

The massive blaze, which was threatening nearby buildings, could be seen throughout the city. At one point, the entire building was in flames.

It’s unclear what caused the fire.

The fire forced the California Highway Patrol to shut down Interstate 110 and the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 101 nearby.
