Coast-to-Coast/iStock Editorial/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — CVS confirmed on Friday that the security incident involving the independently-managed website CVSPhoto.com may have resulted in user data being accessed by hackers.

In an email sent to CVS Photo customers, the company acknowledged an “illegal intrusion” into the systems of the company that runs the CVS Photo website. That breach, it explains, “resulted in the unauthorized acquisition of data entered by certain customers on CVSPhoto.com.” Among the information potentially accessed by those responsible were names, phone numbers, email addresses, usernames and passwords.

CVS notes that there is no evidence that hackers accessed users’ photos.

The company continued to emphasize how the photo website is separate from CVS’ website and pharmacies and that only users of CVSPhoto.com may have had information accessed.

“Nothing is more central to us than protecting the privacy and security of our customer information,” CVS Health Vice President and Chief Privacy Officer Neal Baker said in the email.
