Free Health Education Events ‘Pop-Up’ in Madras and Warm Springs This Summer

Madras, Ore. — A series of free “pop-up” health education events begins today, June 1, providing the community with resources to enjoy the summer with healthy bodies and minds.

The “4 the Health of It” series includes health screenings and giveaways and runs the first and third Thursdays from June to September. Topics span helmet safety, sun safety, healthy eating and dental care. “4 the Health of It” is a pilot program funded through the St. Charles Foundation in partnership with local agencies, with the aim of expanding this “pop-up” model to provide health education in other communities.

The first event, “Be the Change: Niceness is Priceless,” takes place June 1 in Madras and will include team-building activities, as well as representation from Younity—a local bullying prevention foundation—and Best Care, which specializes in addiction recovery.

The first Warm Springs event on July 6 focuses on healthy eating, featuring dieticians from the Indian Health Service (IHS) and OSU Extension Service. Attendees at each event will a receive raffle entry to win a grand prize at the October celebration event.
