…SNOWMELT AND RAIN WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT RISES ON RIVERS AND
STREAMS THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND NEXT WEEK…

Several weather systems will be moving through the Pacific
Northwest this weekend and early next week and could bring
periods of moderate to heavy rain to much of the region Sunday
and Monday.

In addition, the melting of the mid-elevation snowpack will
accelerate across the region as temperatures remain mild with
overnight lows above freezing.

The combination of rain and snowmelt will increase flows on
rivers, creeks, and streams across the region with many reaching
bankfull by late in the weekend or early next week.

At this time, the following rivers in Oregon are at the greatest
risk of reaching flood stage early next week; the Grande Ronde
River, the North Fork of the John Day River and the mainstem John
Day River. While other large rivers in eastern Oregon and south
central and southeast Washington will see rises they are not
expected to reach flood levels.

Impacts will depend on how fast the snow melts and rainfall
amounts. Continue to monitor the forecast for the latest details.
