Circumstances found on arrival, actions taken: The first arriving fire crew found heavy fire coming from the chimney which had extended into the attic space and inside the home. The crew began extinguishing the fire as additional fire units arrived. The fire took approximately one hour to bring under control. Fire units remained on scene well into the evening performing overhaul and salvage operations.

Injuries, rescues and other information of interest: A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy was in the area, arriving first, and reported fire coming from the chimney and roof. He confirmed everyone was out of the home. No injuries was were reported. The homeowners were able to get all of their pets safely out of the home. Two additional water tenders were requested, because of the size of the home and the area not having fire hydrants nearby, but were cancelled as crews brought the fire under control. The homeowners made arrangements to stay with friends.

Estimated loss of building and contents: No estimate at time of press release.
