iStock/GradyReese(NEW YORK) — Rent the Runway continues to be a pioneer in the rental clothing space, and now the brand is continuing its rapid growth with two new categories: ski and athleisure.

The company announced new apparel options on Tuesday that will initially include 20 brand partnerships such as Lululemon, Champion, Fila, Aztech Mountain and Spyder.

There will also be a wide range of pieces in sizes extra small through large.

“She just wants variety in her wardrobe for all aspects of her busy life — for work, a night out, weekends and vacations,” chief merchant of Rent The Runway, Sarah Tam, told WWD about the desires of their customers.

“The active renting offers constant variety and newness that the customer can’t get through buying,” she continued.

There are some who are also skeptical about the overall cleanliness of the new categories as people sweat more in athleisure and ski clothing, but RTR’s SVP of communications and business development Gabby Cohen has an answer to that.

“We take great care to clean and inspect all of our pieces so they arrive in like-new condition,” she told “GMA.”

Cohen adds, “The teams at our facilities use a variety of both wet and dry cleaning processes to ensure that each style is cleaned thoroughly, steamed, pressed, inspected for quality, and packaged with care so that it’s ready for our customers to wear.”

All items from the new categories are available through Rent the Runway’s subscription offerings which include Unlimited, Update and Reserve.
